Sorry: Illustration Friday: Never Forget

I struggled with an idea for this topic at first, because I was not sure how to express the word "sorry" in a drawing. Then I thought about what I was sorry for now, at this point in time. This was the first thing that came to mind. I am truly sorry for all that have passed in this war, and all wars. I am deeply sorry for anyone who had a loved one perish in battle. My thoughts are with all of you.

Thank you all for the nice comments. I wanted the coffin to be the focal point and was hoping to make it stand out by only using color for the flag, and then just using graphite for the soldiers.

WOW! Thanks for doing this. Although, I have not lost anyone in the current war. Others in my work place have. Great choice to only color in the flag. Great job!

A very powerful image. I think this illustration honors those who have fallen.
This is the ultimate sacrifice.
And for that I am sorry.
